33th descendant of Ponchen A-nga lineage

DSC_0007Ponchen A-nga (dpon chen a snga) lived in the early sixteenth century. He is counted as the head of the family in its thirty-third generation. His father was Gyeltsen Bum (rgyal mtshan ‘bum, d.u.), the second king of Dege. He had three younger brothers who all became monks.

He had two sons. The elder, Joden Namkha Lhunzang (jo gdan nam mkha’ lhun bzang) became a monk and the younger, Yagyel Pel (ya rgyal ‘phel) inherited the kingdom.
